ThermoWood® cladding is an attractive honey-brown colour, similar to the mid-tones of Canadian Cedar. The price point is approximately half that of Canadian Cedar, providing a designer look on a budget.
It is produced by heat treating Finnish grown pine and spruce. The timber is heated to temperatures in excess of 200 degrees centigrade. During the heat treatment, chemical and structural changes occur within the timber. These alter and improve some of its basic characteristics.
The resulting product is an altogether more durable and stable timber. An ideal cladding material for use in exposed areas such as external walls.
Longevity
Uncoated ThermoWood exterior cladding can provide a 30-year desired service life. This calculation is based on a number of conditions;- The quality of the workmanship at the time of installation.
- The exposure of cladding to the weather.
- Location.
- Elevation.
- Design.
